Women Voters
UWM Research Magazine
Gender and politics are both sensitive subjects to depict visually. This article discusses a UWM researcher’s study on how gender effects Amercan voting behavior – both of women and for women. In the photo illustration accompanying the story, I played with American politics’ red vs. blue symbolism, hinting at the depth of the subject matter by referencing images meant to be seen with 3D glasses.
The most challenging part of this illustration was sourcing three stock photos of women with similar stances and gazes, who as a group represent key demographics among female American voters. Once I found them, editing the three images together into a cohesive tableau was tricky, and also very satisfying.
