How do you illustrate an algorithm? When a UWM researcher’s work was accepted into the prestigious journal he was invited to submit a compelling image for the cover. He and I collaborated to create an evocative visual for his math-based discovery. This project represents a satisfying exchange of ideas where I had to understand the research before applying my skills to create an evocative image that represented his work accurately.

The researcher and I were proud to submit the resulting image, and though it was not ultimately chosen for the cover, it’s a project that still gives me a sense of accomplishment. It was a challenging concept to visualize, and to make something that satisfied both me and the researcher was incredibly rewarding.
